Ahmednagar may not have huge number of museums, but whatever few museums it does have do lend a very unique and absorbing experience to its visitors. As matter of a fact the very few museums that Ahmednagar do have are truly one of its kind in entire India. Here is brief information on all these exceptional museums that are today truly pride of Ahmednagar city.

Ahmednagar Fort Museum

Ahmednagar_Fort_MuseumAs is clearly evident from the name itself, this museum is located inside the iconic Ahmednagar Fort. The museum is called ‘Leaders Block’ and is in fact one of the major tourist attractions of Ahmednagar Fort. It is actually a small prison house where Britishers had imprisoned many iconic freedom fighters like Pandit Nehru, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The very leaders who shaped the destiny of our country had spent some of the very important moments of their lives in this very prison. This prison house was also the place where Pandit Nehru had authored his most celebrated book ‘The Discovery of India’.

Today this museum exhibits and showcases all the personal collections/possessions of our freedom fighters. A visit to this museum will surely fill your heart with deep sense of patriotism.

Tank Museum

Since they have participated in historically important wars like World War I, World War II, Indo-Pak wars of 1965 & 1971 and many other important wars. This truly unique museum is part of the Armoured Corps Centre and School, which is an important military education institution of our country.
